Iwould assume this is normal, my A. Yongei stinks (noticed every time I take it out of the water). And since it continues to grow and be just fine. I assume it must be normal, Have you noticed the same thing?

Yes but some people like the smell...

Yes this is true.. For instance I was walking through the cologne department at Nordstrom the other day and what do I see??

"A. Yongei for men" :D

But seriously all corals smell... They all pretty much smell the same to me.

THE SMELL OF SWEET SUCCESS MY FRIEND....A CORAL THAT SMELLS A LITTLE IS A GOOD THING...A CORAL THAT SMELLS LIKE DEATH IS A BAD THING..... IF IT IS GROWING WELL I WOULD NOT WORRY...ALSO THESE CORALS USE SLIME COATS AS PROTECTION...... IF YOU WHERE A FISH WOULD YOU EAT SOMETHING THAT SMELLS LIKE THAT????

That is so true! Now, if I could convince my wife that Pink Birdsnest is such a sexy fragance, maybe I could get her one for her birthday!

Thanks cwegescheide, that was a good one.

And yes, I'm enjoying it. Here's a pic.

i think it smells like a can of corn sometimes, i threw away this colony once, and the trashcan reaked like rotting corn :( not very pleseant, so if you're going to throw away acros throw them in the dumpster :D

YEAH I TASTE MINE REGULARLY...A LITTLE MILLI IN THE MORNING WITH MY CORNFLAKES, SOME POCILLIPORA FOR LUNCH WITH A HAM SANDWHICH, OH AND A NICE LARGE PORTION OF BALI SLIMER FOR SUPPER WITH MY PASTA..... IF I AM REALLY HUNGRY THAT DAY I WILL THROW IN A LITTLE HYCINTHUS FOR A BEDTIME SNACK TO STAVE OFF THE HUNGER. LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Yall are sort of wierd eatin' your corals but i have no room to talk cause i drank skimmate. A thick salty taste with a little bit of poo flavor! MMMMMM

Nog = fish poo
Just a thought----Can you change smell by changing to different fish foods?
Omar, they do better in the water :) how often do you take it out?

If I am not mistaken, that smell is attributed to the release of dimethylsulfoniopropionate from corals, as well as dimethylsulfate.
