I think they are a illegal in USA,? not 100% sure but pretty darn sure.

Abalone is a popular Chinese dish, it is farm raised in many areas of Asia for its commercial value. It is an algae eater however is not always suited for reef tank as some of them are from cooler water instead of tropical water.

my friend recommend me to put an abalone in my reef tank for clean up purpose. My friend has great success with abalone. he told me that aballone is a good algae eater but will not eat coralline algae

there are species of abalone that are tropical, not all of them are cool water living; they do not eat corals, and they are steady algal grazers
