? about curing old nasty live rock

I took live rock out of my old tank that had the leftovers of a leather coral that was fragged and it has been sitting in a bucket outside in saltwater with a lid on in for a few months. How can I bring this rock back to life? I have an eheim canister filter laying around...will I be able to use that? Thanks

Personally I would dry it out and then cook it. But you can just follow the typical cooking routine for it. New SW, heater and powerhead, no light. Change water every week for about 8 weeks. Check for po4 on the last week just before the last waterchange to ensure po4 has been cooked out

Don't forget to add a piece of live rock to get the bacteria in there and to dnk and swish the rock vigorously.

Nope.

The more frequent your water changes would speed it up though.
