? about zoas

I was wondering if any one could tell me why some zoas are short and spread over the rocks when others sometime extend out really far.Could this be a lighting issue or health?Also if all seems well with purchesed zoas that were extended would the stems shorten or always remain the same.Thanks

it can have something to do with the light, but most likely it has to do with the different species of zoas.
