ABSOLUTELY BEST combination in-line or submersible water pump?

I posted this in the reef section, and got no action. I thought maybe someone here may have a suggestion.

I need a water pump that can be used either in line or submersible. I have a 225 gal. tank.
It will be in the sump of my wet/dry filter, and there is only about 5" depth of water where the pump would be placed, thus a portion will be out of the water. I'm only going to have about 1' head pressure, but I want at least 2,500 GPH flow through my Redsea modular filters. I'm limited on the length and width as well.
I have about 7-8" of L x W. Those #s are a little bit less than the actual space to be on the safe size. What is the general consensus as far as high volume, low heat, and something that will fit the dimensions available? Price is really no object, after all the $ dumped into this thing, I'm not going to quibble over a $100 or $200.
I just need something that will fit my needs.

As it is right now I'm running at least 10 degrees above the ambient temp. This is a fish only tank, it only has 4 48" t12 bulbs and I have 2 high volume fans pushing air out of the base of the tank, and another high volume fan blowing down at the water as it passes through the sump.
I dont remember the square foot per minute of the fans, but I do remember they were pretty high. I think my heat problem is created by my 2 Gorman Rupp 1,500 GPH pumps each and a Rio 2500 running the skimmer. I could add a fan to the canopy, but I
don't know how much good it would do with only florescent bulbs.

So does anybody have an idea that will fit my needs?

Look. I just got me a really good Quiet One pump from Foster and Smiths, Live Aquaria.com They make a pretty good sized pump and it works externally. If you are going to use it for your return of your sump, and if your skimmer is in your sump, just remember that we all have pretty much proven the we don't want fast flow. Slow flow is the best for the skimmer. Remember that when ordering.
