ac 110 mod

I am new to the hobby and was wondering if adding a aquaclear 110 would add to much flow to my tank. I have a 26 gallon bow front with an eheim 2232 (127gph) and a aquaclear 30 (174gph) powerhead. The reason I was asking was I am planning on primarily going to keep lps in my tank. I have seen a mod to make this filter an aquafuge to keep my micro algae down. Let me know what any of you guys think. also thanks in advance.

Im assuming you dont have a return pump and are using both for intank powerheads, that still only makes 11X turn over, you have PLENTY of room to add more movement. With an LPS tank I would strive for at least 30, wanna make sure you get any tenticles waving. The only problem I incurred with that mod was still the same problem I incurred by just simply using it as a filter. When the water evaporates and it will you can develop some pretty good splash from it pouring back into the tank in return, let alone salt creep. I havent seen the mod for the past year, have they fixed this issue?

not for sure if they have fixed. 1 of my friends just set his tank up and purchased one really cheap and was wondering if I wanted to buy it. I feel that I have a micro algae issue since I have to scrape it every 4 or so days. I do not have a sump either. Do you think if i did add one it would affect my two percs and my yellow watchman goby? (my wife loves them.

I dont see any harm other than salt creep, in fact I think it would only aid in there vitality. I'd just suggest to keep a close eye on your evaporation as well as salinity.

I have a ac110 as a fuge on my 30 gal nano. I removed everything from and including the baskets and filled it half full of lr rubble and the top half with caulerpa and cheato morpha. I cut the sponge in half long ways and put it at overflow to keep macro algea in and to help reduce the flow. I have a 13 w pc light on top. It grows pods like crazy and i have to cut macro algea back every 3 weeks or so....WORKS GREAT.
