Looking for AC service/installation recommendations, got my power back but the AC compressor is not turning on.. Someone from this forum helped me before, but I lost the contact info name/phone when I switched phones (sorry I dont recall the name).
Thanks

I can recommend the guy I called the last time my A/C failed. He is honest and decently priced.

His name is Daniel and his number is (352) five52-68zero2

Good luck!

Just replace the capacitor. Look it up in YouTube. Takes 15 mins or less and costs $25. Done and Done

Call my buddy Eric 813 230 3742. He has always taken care of me and also now took care of Jeff(JFoltz)

I do AC for a living and I wish that was the case. Maybe 10 to 15% at the most for me. I life in Pinellas county Florida. Land of power surges. Of course when I do replace the Chinese or Mexican junk from the factory with American made caps I have a lot less problems. Caps are one time where country of origin matters a lot.

In my last house with 2 outside units I had to replace a cap about once a year. Seemed to rotate units. The house was new when I moved it. I kept 2 caps on hand because it happened so often

Mine went out today when the power came back on. It was the conactor. It could have happened when the power went out too.

There's alot of things where country of origin matters. Not just caps.

My Cap needed replaced this year. First time in the 4 years I've been living in this house. Dunedin Refrig comes out once a year.

Thanks for all the input, I figured it was some loose connection and got it running. However, while trying to figure this out I found that my air handler box is completely cover with black mold inside. When I say covered I mean it, thick layers not just some spots. Is this something I can clean? Do I need to hire someone to mitigate it? or Does it needs to be replaced? Thanks

There are products to clean this sort of thing. If you are in Clearwater call Holt filters. They are near Sunset and Hercules. Ask for Tim and tell what you need.
ABSOLUTELY WEAR A MASK. I really doubt it is actually black mold or even harmful but you need to take precautions just incase. There are luckily only a few really harmful species unless you are allergic. Not sure what space you have to get the plenum out but you could replace it fairly easy if there is enough space. Knife, tape and spray glue will be the most of what you need. Some of the supply houses in the area sell premade boxes but they are wholesale only. If you wanted to do it yourself and thought yourself capable I could get the box for you. As long as we can find the right size.
