AC Jr. Temp Calibration

AC Jr. has been running for about 2 months now and the temp has alwasys seemed a bit high as recorded by the temp probe. Right now the temp on the unit is reading 80.9 and I sampled it against a coralife thermometer as well as one of the intank old fashioned mercury thermometer. The coralife digital is giving me a reading of 78.7 and the mercury one is giving me a reading of 79.

Curt, I know that I mentioned this to you a while back and you said that the unit was calibrated at the factory and should be dead on and that you would go by this.

Based on the sampling of three readings from three different devices would you say that I should calibrate down to the 79.

Thanks.

Get a cup fill half with crush ice then add some water just to cover the ice. Mix it real good then put the probe inside. It should read 32 degrees. Ice melting point is 32. I get mine around 32.4

ps when you put the probe in dont let it rest on the side fo the cup or the buttom. This can affect the temp.

The temp probe was calibrated by a NIST thermometer to +/- .5 degrees, according to Curt.

Flex, I thought that the Neptune probes wouldn't go down to 32 degrees.

You are right it cant. It only droped in the 40s if i remember correctly.
I callibrated my pinpoint. It read 32.4 (sorry left that out)
Then i left both probes in the tank and my ACjr was of by -1.7

My Chiller was off by .2 from pinpoint so i figured it had to be the ACjr temp probe that was off.
