Ac Jr. wireless?

My Ac. Jr is coming in this week and i have been looking at different ways of hooking it up for internet capabilities. The mod on the lynksys router looks a little complicated and i dont feel like spending the money for a serial server. I was thinking of getting a serial - usb adaptor the pluging that into a Linksys WUSB11 Wireless-B USB Network Adapter v4. Would this work with aquanotes?

Serial -> USB, you will have to run a cable to the computer. Then you will need to use some type of software to fool the computer and Aquanotes into thinking that the USB port is a serial port.

I used to have a Serial -> Ethernet connection and it worked like a charm. The only thing is that the Serial -> Ethernet will run you about $100 bucks and they are not easy to install.

I've never seen that method brought up in any of the other threads. Looks like that would be the cheapest way to do it if it would work. A serial-usb adapter is around $10 and you can get a wireless usb adapter for around $40. I may give it a try since I already have both at home.

If you get it working, please post what brand of equipment you have. For $50 I'd definitely give it a try.

It seemed like a good idea, I just dont have the equipment lying around, keep us posted on if it works or not. I dont see why it wouldnt being that it's basically the same thing as modding the router.

Would this work on AquaNotes Lite or only the full version? I don't know if Lite will connect via ethernet.

I don't think a standard wireless adapter is going to work. You need a computer to drive those. What I did for mine is purchase a wireless-g game access point. It takes a standard ethernet cable and handles all the wireless connectivity seamlessly. The AC Jr thinks it's plugged into a standard ethernet hub.

Edit: Sorry, I have the ACIII not the AC Jr.

I think the idea would be to plug the Serial->USB adapter into the ACjr, then that into the USB wireless adapter. This would basically get your ACjr onto your network.

What I wonder is if you could then get AquaNotes or AquaNotes Lite to connect to the device.

that is exactaly what i was thinking. get an aadpaer then plug a usb cable from the adapter to the usb wireless transmitter, I'm just wondering if aqua notes will pick it up, just waiting on an update . . . .

Serial -> USB adapter will probably need drivers to run and therefore needs to be plugged into a computer where you can install the drivers.

This isn't going to work. Both the USB to serial adapter and the USB wireless adapter are USB slaves. You would need a USB to serial adapter & a master USB wireless adapter. The master USB wireless adapter would need firmware to recognize the USB to serial adapter, and then the PC would also have run a special driver to create a virtual serial port from a TCP/IP connection.
