acan, blasto, or micromusa???

I have come to understand that acan are pretty agressive when it comes to other corals, but what about blasto's? Are they as agressive with other corals or do they play a little nicer??

I am also wondering if someone could tell me what micromusa are? Are they related to acan or blasto's? They look similar to them. I would like to ad some of these corals to my lps tank but I'm trying to decide which would get along better with other corals.

I currently have a small toadstool leather and a large spaghetti leather, 2 colr morphs of candy cane, kenya tree, 3 types of mushrooms 3 types of zoas and an anenome. this is in a 75 gal with 4 vho's (440 watts) btw

Thanks,

Blasto's are the nicer of the three, but can still do a little damage. Acans and micros can wreak some havok, if given the chance. Micro amak's used to be called Acan lords, if I remember correctly, until they were reclassified due to size (and probably some other characteristics), which explains the similarities.

absolutely correct. micromussa amakusensis are very similiar to acan lords but a tad smaller. both are pretty aggressive corals but neither are as bad as acanthastrea echinata. they will all release threads and attack any coral within a few inches of them. blastos are extremely passive corals and will most likely not harm anything. but i would suggest keeping 4 inches between each piece as a rule of thumb. but there are some exceptions that need more room

Thanks for the info. So the micro's are basically a smaller version of acans. Will the blasto's attach them selves or do they have to be superglued to a rock? Also do the blasto's need to be fed? I just really like the colors of all of them, but I am a little nervous about trying acan's. I am fairly new to the hobby. I guess if they ( acan's ) are placed correctly they are not that bad. Maybe I will start with the blasto's and then move on to the acan's.
I forgot to mention I have a goni that is doing well also, so I am used to feeding. I also feed my open brain. None of the corals I listed will bother the acan's or blasto's will they? Chemically speaking that is.
Thanks again for the help

I'd recommend gluing to a rock. wellsi's might encrust, but I would think it would take a while (if at all). They usually just add small polyps that grow larger. All the merletti's I've seen need to be glued in place (at least to a spacer rock). They don't mind being fed and tend to grow faster (acan, micro, or blasto). Chemically, you'll be fine. Mesenterially (is that a word;)), you may have trouble if they are too close. Leathers are the worst for chemical warfare.

ok, wellsi's are the hardest of the three to care for. id start with acans then micros then blastos. on the other hand gonis are TONS harder to care for then any of the three. and if your params and lighting keep a goni thriving then the three will do well for you. non of the three need to be fed but do grow faster with regular feedings (i feed 2-3X a week). blastos will attach themselves to rocks and it usually takes around 1-2 months for them to do so. i say this from experience, not just guessing. good luck and enjoy the best side of lps lol
