Acan bleaching?

How can I tell if my Acan is bleaching? What is bleaching for that matter?

I have a purple Acan for about a week and a half now, and it looks like there is whitish type lining around some of the "polyps".

Here are a few close up pic of what I am talking about (hope it comes out clear):

Maybe this is normal...not sure since its my first piece of this type. Any help/info is greatly appreciated.

Oh, all water params are normal as is spec. grav/salinity and the temp is between 78.5 and 80 constantly.

Not sure what "normal" means. Like I said, this is my first acan and I am pretty new at this stuff. Perhaps its just coloration. It has been eating lately and it "moves", not like walking around or anything, but polyps opening up and such.

Thats why I took the pics. I thought it would be easier than trying to explain what I meant.

I think he meant where you said your water params were 'normal'. What some test kits call normal might be at one end or another of what might be good for a coral.

Oh, sorry. I use a Red Sea marine test kit and all parameters are within acceptable levels. It tests for pH, Alk, Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite.

Steve,

How new is the acan? You just got it if I remember from the nano forum. It could be from a change of lighting. If it was bleaching you should be seeing it from the edges and it get quite white. I just lost a lobo hatai from bleaching. When the lobo bleached it started at the edges, your lines look symetrical, which leads me to think that it is the lighting. Possibly MH to you pc?
