Acan Care

I want to get some LPS corals for my tank and wanted to get an Acan. I've searched this site, but have mostly found pictures rather then information on care. I am new to this site so I could be looking in the wrong place. If there is information that anyone can offer on care (placement, feeding, lighting requirements, flow, water quality, etc...) I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you...

First off Acans are hit or miss. I mean they adapt to many diffrent levels in the Reef Tank. I place my lords low in the tank, and supply them with low-med flow. Enchinatas the same, but I have kept them as far up as mid point in the tank. My Aussie Acan seem to love the Mid level of my tank under 250 MH 14k Pheonix bulbs.

I feed them as I fed the tank. They will grab rotifers, and some other small meaty items out of the water column, but they also love a mix of Cyclopese, and phyto. These are hardy corals, and I have seen the come back from little or no tisse left.

Word of Caution: Enchinatas pack a punch!! Anything that falls onto it (Coral family) will meet it death. This coral has one heck of a whaloop!

Good luck!
