Acan color help

I have a 92 bow with 2x250 watt pheonix MH bulbs. I change them out about every 10 months. I started with 5 different colors of acans and now they are almost the same color red. Can some one explain how this happened?

I am having the same problem with my acans. I have a 31 gallon with 2 white t-5 2 actinic t-5 all 31 watts. I was told to raise my acans higher into the tank that way they show off a little more color. They were also puffing up a lot, an indication of lack of sun light. Move them up a little to bit to see if any color comes back(but not too much). I know that under my LEDs they glow very nicely, but under my T-5's they are just normal.

I agree that it is too much light. Acans tend to exhibit more contrasting colors under less light.

It could also be that your Acans were wild caught and have lost their color in the aquaria. I am not sure if you know the lineage of your Acans, but it is a common occurrence for wild caught Acans to fade over time.
