Acan Growth question with Pic

I have this Acan and ever since I upgraded tanks the growth has taken off. As you can see in the pic, it has almost outgrown the rock. I want this thing to keep growing, so should I attach that rock to a larger rock, or put a bunch of smaller rocks around it? What do you guys do in your tanks?

It should do fine as is but I have had a lot of success by building a ramp around the frag with epoxy to allow for a smoother transition to the surrounding rock. After polyps have spread across the ramp, it is easy to pop off the initial frag if you decide to propagate it some more. HTH

Agreed on the ramp. On the space, it's up to you. If that acan has plenty of room to grow in all directions, yes you could let it be. If it needs some more time and separation, stick another rock under it.

Both are seen here ;) It was a 1/2" square (you can see the outline at the very top, which then encrusted on a disk, which is then going down the epoxy, down onto the next rock :)

Here's another.

Same thing with these fatties. They actually need another rock under their rock under their disk under the frag, as they've grown off.

Absolutly beautiful. What light do you use and how deep?

58g, 36" Maristar 2x250w Ham14... Down on the sandbed. Same growth as when I ran T5's.

Thanks for the tips. Very nice corals!

Thanks for the response on this.

So, if I do not want them to grow on the base rock they are sitting on, I need to put something underneath?

If I put odd shaped rocks underneath, will they grow over them in the same odd shape as the rock?
