Well, just got a nice acan colony that look like it took a real beating in shipping. I'll post a pic in a second. Should I do an iodine dip? I'm worried they will even survive the stress from that.

I reef dip most of my LPS with no ill effects. Takes care of any infections or pests.

i've had the same experience before... just put it in the shade for a few days and try to feed it stuff like Cyclopeeze and it should be fine... i will skip the dip too...

I'm wondering if the damage that it has already suffered combined with the iodine dip might just push it over the edge, if it already isn't there.

I am not sure you really know what an iodine dip is used for. It helps damage tissue recover and heal faster. It is effective against bacteria, fungus, and protozoans. It may be used prophylactically (without evidence of disease) or to remedy deseased specimens. I highly dought it would push it over the edge. Do you just make this stuff up??

You have zero clue, do you homework.
