Acan Lord Question

I recently got a couple of Acan Lord frags. They are currently on the substrate and are doing well. My question is will they still grow / bud on the aragonite bottom of my tank? How will they spread? Thanks!

I have always drilled/demeled out a whole in a flat rock and mounted the bottom of the flesh even with the rock and they grow very quickly out onto the flat rock...

I try to do the same as Kyle, but usually I just look for a piece of rubble rock with an indent in it. Just less work than drilling, but drilling works good too.

Acans spread out the best when they have rock adjacent to their flesh. They can produce their own skeleton, but it's a lot more work for the coral, and will result in slower growth.

Ok that makes sense. So I need to put the frag onto a larger flat or cupped rock to get them to spread faster.

You got that right Randy. Drilling out the rock is a big pain, lol...

Maybe if I had some really big drill bits, it would be easier. I usually have to drill a few holes and then try to open them up by twisting the bit in the holes.
I've found certain rocks drill better than others. Softer rock turns into sand, while hard rock just breaks after a while.
