hi treefer
im sure everyone on this forum want to see a close up picture... one of the reasons is that Acan M is that corals that most people dont believe some one have in the tank.....
we all see a lot of the crazy painted scolys which coming from AU this days and sometimes vendor try to tag smaller single polyps as UNKNOWN ACAN or ACAN M.....
if you look into origins of acan maxima you will see that you only can find it in the waters of Oman where any collections is prohibited
some very unusual acans a re still make to the us and i have some myself which i fail to identify... again it would be very interesting to see a closeup...if you turn your power heads off you can take an awesome pic from the top

i work at the lfs, and we broke the dremal out and the mother colony was only 4 polyps and the largest one was a solid 2 1/2 inches across, which the other kid i work with took, ill try to get a better camera and get a closer pic..

Im really not worried about anybody beliving if it is a maxima, i know the owner of the wholesaler and hes on top of the ****, along with drooling over maximas long before this piece came into the shop. i was just wondering if anyone has experience with the growthrate of maxima, and they dont split? ud figure they would be just like anyother acan, hmmm that sucks, but like i said ill try to scurry up a legit digi cam so im not almost dropping my laptop into my pod....

i have never seen any acan/micro/favia type of corals split .. they always seems to pop up babys when they on good cyclops diet..... btw could you ask in the LFS where this corals collected

Almost every head on my baby's breath favia has split into 2 or more. I have never seen this with micros or acans either, though.

my favia split in to 2. that i had it for 6moth so i dont know what u talking about?

i work at the lfs, and they come from everywhere, we deal with some wholesalers out of nj where we handpick fish and corals, my guy i got this from had only 2 maximas, hefty price on each of them unfortunatly we dont do much online, cause the owner wont pay somone to update the sight and such but the website is cityzoopetstore.com , we frag just about anything that we want, sorta a perk for werkin at a shop, cream of the crop

This is mine.

This is mine.

But i dont think this is a Maxima. Acan of some sort maybe but most likely a scoly.
