Acan mounting

I have acquired a few acans recently and trying to decide what to do with them. I know they should be in low to med light with med flow but is growth better if I mount them on a rock work or have them sit on a sand bed on the frag plug. If on sand with they continue to grow or stop because they don't have a hard support?

dont put them in the sand the sand can get stuck in it and kill it i also heard it wont grow as well on sand put it on the rock

I leave mine acans on frag plugs and little bit below the middle with some what moderate flow & lighting. You can cut the bottom of the plug & place it on a rock

I have 2 on plugs and 1 on the skeleton. I will take the advice and mount on the rock. Thanks

I mounted mine to marble in the hopes the will spread easily on the flat surface. My first try with acans this way. They are about an inch off the sand. Light to moderate flow.

One trick to eventually getting more of a "ball" acan shape is to mount it on something narrow, so new growth can grow into a ball shape.
