Acan Question

How far does an Acan have to be away from other corals. I am thinking about buying one but I want to make sure my other corals don't get stung.

An acan lord, they don't have sweeper tentacles right? I wast thinking at long as the other corals weren't touching then it wouldn't be a problem. I have Bornemans Corals book but was surprised that there wasn't much info on them.

It is strange that there isn't much at all in that book (I have it as well).

Mine does not appear to have sweeper tentacles, but does have feeders that extend about .5" from each polyp. I don't know if this is standard, or just mine

Cant speak on the lords, but my echinata has expelled its filimentary innards almost as far as an inch and a half. And when those things land, look out, can pretty much disolve a lot of different kinds of corals. My buddy was just tellin me how one of his friends got there micromussa zapped by his acananthastrea ech. 2+" away. So at least 4-5" for good measure plus take note where the current is and make sure nothings downstream from them that may be too close as that area will have its full extension capability.

worry more about the other corals than the lords. keep them about 1.5 inch away from non-agressive corals & pay attention. It is not just sweepers that affect corals. Some secrete (sp) chemical warfare toxins
if they sense that their neighbor is too close.
