acans extending alot

So, my acans will occasionally extend upwards a good inch to two inches. Is this normal?

yes it is and IMO they look best that way . mine all do this and i think its because they are in a dimmer tank and they extend to get more light . when i put them in a brighter tank they shrink up alot and they have a common sump so its not the water .mine are fed often and are under two 65watt compacts 10 hours a day .the tank that they shrink up in has 8 -54watt T 5s and is considerably brighter .just my opinion

thanks for the input. i have them under 250w mh in a 40gallon. I wonder if i should have them higher up

dude thats alot of light ,they dont need that much at all so i would not move then up at all .the polyp extention may also be them feeding so look for signs of that .honestly my acans like the least light that i give them
