I have an acan question, mostly about origin. What is the biggest difference between acans from Fiji vs those from Australia? Other than the price <grin>. Seriously though, is it color? Size? what?
Also, when dealing with rainbow acans, I'm hearing that they tend to lose their color. Is it due to over lighting? From what I understand these are found in turbulent silty water, which would be difficult to mimic in the home aquarium, mostly because you want to see what you have in your tank... Will placing these in shaded areas out of direct light keep them from losing their rainbow hues?

Thanks

I often hear australian corals are more hardy than their counterparts but have never personally bought any

I guess that depends on the coral. When it comes to acros, I've never had an issue with fiji acros. However every aussie acro i've bought has up and croaked within days.

P.s.

I have a lot of aussie acans just not any fiji. Wanted to get some but I'm spoiled on the aussie so was worried they would not be up to par. Or if they are harder to keep etc. The prices are nice though. Like I said, looking at pictures, there doesn't seem to be much difference between some colonies except name of origin and the price tag. But the other issue is pictures on the internet can't always be trusted.
