Acclimating inverts

I have a bit of a dilemma here and I'd like some other opinions on what to do. I'm planning on getting some snails and shrimp tomorrow, but acclimating them is gonna be tough. My LFS (the only one in Toronto that I trust for livestock) keeps all non-coral tanks at 1.018 SG to "reduce osmotic stress," and I keep my tank at 1.026 SG. I'm a little nervous about going up 8 points during acclimation (even if I do it over like 8 hours) because I don't know if they'll be able to take it. So I was thinking about putting them in my quarantine tank and raising the salinity over a few days. The thing is that I got my quarantine tank second hand and i have no idea if the previous owner ever used copper in it. If I had to guess, I would say no because I think he used it as display tank. It's a JBJ nano cube, and I don't know anyone who would spend $500 on a QT. What would you do?

The ride from the LFS to my house is only ten minutes so the pH/ammonia thing that usually happens in scenarios involving long shipping isn't a concern here.

I don't really think an increase of 0.008 SG is safe, so I'm definitely going to acclimate. Do you think taking a chance with the nano cube is a bad idea - should I find some other container to use?

It's unnecessary, but you can use a bucket or any container you find. I wouldn't risk anything potentially pretreated personally.
