Acclimating Inverts

I have never bought inverts all at once and i am going to this week so can i drip some hermits & cleaner shrimp in the same bucket?

the shrimp i would definitly drip the crabs you could just throw in.

Are you getting them from the same place? The only concern I might have would be if the salinities were different in each bag.

yeah from the same place, all hooked up to one system but in different tanks (if you know what i mean)

ive been told it can kill the crabs by doing this?

Yea, I do know exactly what you mean, did that same thing about a month ago, worked out fine.

I'd drip acclimate the shrimp separate from the crabs -- they're usually quite sensitive and skittish. I'd try to get them to eat something too, so you can see what they like. The crabs are a lot more hardy and can all be acclimated together.

My cleaner shrimp tend to fed themselves when I fed the tank.

However, whenever I am feeding the anemones I will give it a little piece of krill to keep it occupied.

Always drip - that's my rule and it has worked out fine for me.

Dripping is safe. Alternatively, you can read the salinity with a refractometer. If SG is the same, you are good to go after temperature acclimation.

I dont have a refractometer so i drip to be safe.

ive always acclimatised crabs and other inverts in a bag floating in the tank for 30 mins. never had any problems.

dont you drip or anything else or do you just put them straight in the tank?

For those who do not have a refractometer, I highly recommend getting one. Hydrometers, while consistent, are often inaccurate. It is really important to have your specific gravity under control.
