I will be getting a hammer coral and cristata coral frag in the next two days. Just want to know how to acclimate them to my aquarium. I have Coral Rx is that necessary. These are my first corals. Thanks for everyones help.
Tank Info 180 gallon 72''x24''x24''
Water params
Salinity 1.026 sg (Refracometer)
pH 8.1-8.3 (Pinpoint)
Calcium 434 (hanna)
Temp 78F (chiller)
nitrates 0 (salifert)
Phosphate 0 (Hanna)
Mg 1450 (Salifert)
Ammonia 0 (API)

So there is no need for drip acclimation. How about the Coral Rx do you use the recommended dose/time? Thanks and sorry for the newb questions.

For sure no need for drip acclimation, ammonia builds up in the water during transit and when you drip them it can be pretty harmful. Keeps it easy doesn't it :)

I don't usually temp acclimate... I salinity acclimate. I take out most of the water in the bag, and then add a few squirts of tank water, this will usually be about the same amount that was in the bag. Throw in some Revive (coral RX is fine too) AND I throw in a drop of flatworm exit just for good measure. (I hate those little flatworms!) Then I rinse with more tank water, and drop it in the tank.

I use the drip method for about 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours

Corals weren't drip acclimated anywhere they stopped at before they got to your tank, no need to waste your time and compromise their health :)

Wholesalers and LFS just take them out of the box and put them right into the water, no lag time.

If you've ever been in an actual reef, snorkling or scuba diving, and you're spending a good amount of time in there, especially during the tides, the water temperature fluctuates.... sometimes pretty drastically. This isn't to say that you should try to replicate this or anything, but our corals are hardy to temperature flux.... They lived with it in nature.

What they aren't hardy to, is large fluctuation in salinity. So if you're buying from a LFS, ask what their salinity is.... If its pretty close to your own, then you should be able to drop it in without any problem.... But I like to dip to make sure that there aren't any hitchhikers, like I said before.
