hi
i just got some turbos and red leg hermits
currently floating in the bag to equalise temp
what's the best method for acclimating them though?

[welcome]

Either a slow drip with airline tubing tied in a loose knot until you double amount of water... dump half and double again. Or pour in a 1/4 cup every 15 minutes and follow the same guidelines as above. Snails are VERY sensitive to salinity changes. Acclimate for an hour or two if possible.

You can also take the snails out of the water and let them sit out in the air for about 10min. Then stick them to the top of your tank just above the waterline and they will acclimate themselves into the tank.

thats how i acclamate the snails everything else gets dripped.

hmmm I must be the only one that tries to toss them into the tank from at least 10 feet out..."shot at the buzzer, GOOD!"

ok ok, i like to let them acclimate themselves, but sometimes they just fall in right away, so far haven't lost any that way.

If the snails were packaged with just a water paper towel (that's how I received them when ordered on line), then I just drop them into the tank making sure the are right side up. I have not lost one yet.
