acclimating

I just switched from current 150de 10000k to phoenix 14000k. How long if any do I need to acclimate my corals. I am using the screen method now .

I used 2-3 layers to get the light level similar to what it was before the light change. I then took them of every 4 to 5 days watching the corals response. If it's not good put a screen back on for a couple more days, then repeat the process.

How old were the 10,000 bulbs?

Oddly enough I did the same thing last weekend (( but 250 watt )), and I didn't acclimate the corals to the new lights. The bulbs that I replaced were only about 5 months old, and had higher PAR then the Phoenix bulbs, so I didn't see the need to use any screening. My corals are doing great.

The bulbs were aprox 3 months old.

just switch and watch how the corals love it. i have never had a problem changing light fixtures. the coral always seem to love it.

The Current 150 watt 10K's are pretty bright lamps. Most likely still Higher par than the 14K phoenix 150 watt lamps if the currents were only 3 months old (I have used both lamps in the past). You can use the window screen method to play it safe but I doubt it will be needed.
