Acclimation concern - pair of true percs

I moved a mature, mated pair of true perculas last night and unfortunately the process was not as smooth as I had planned or hoped. While they waited in a large bucket to get moved into their new home I was working to rearrange some rock and that apparently took my focus off for just long enough.

While in their bucket I had a heater that malfunctioned. I was slowly adding tank water to their existing water to adjust and acclimate them when the heater thermostat went haywire. Before I knew it (obviously should have noticed earlier) the temp was up to the mid to high 80's. I bagged the clowns in that now hot water, and began floating them in the tank to slowly bring it down. I did the remainder of the acclimation in the floating bag and then released the fish to the tank after that was done. They appear fine and are happy in their RBTA but I am concerned.

Is there any precation I can take after the fact that may be beneficial?
Any stories to share, etc?

THANKS!

under the circumstances, I'd say you did exactly what you should have done correctly...
I would certainly keep a watchful eye on them and pay close attention to any sign of parasites (ie:ich)
give them some time to settle in and see if they will take a small amount of food sometime later today
hopefully everything will be fine...

what heater malfunctioned on you? was it a Stealth by any chance :(

That's my fear - is that a parasite latches on if they got stressed.

I cannot recall the heater brand but could look later. Is there a way to reset the thermostat on a heater?
