Acidic Ro water

Has any of you been getting acidic RO/DI water that differs from the Ph of the normal tap?

I have heard that this was common of RO/DI units but I have not had this experience and wanted to check with others.

I've read there are not enough ions to get an accurate or reliable pH reading in rodi water.

I believe that the ph of RO water would swing wildly throughout the day, as there isn't much buffering capacity in it. So as the gasses around the water change, co2, 02 etc so would the ph of the water. Hmm..... does anyone aerate their topoff water? That would drive it up quite high i would think.

I don't think it's something you need to worry about. The pH of pure water should be 7 but since there is no buffering capacity, it can swing widely but isn't something to worry about. Adding it won't drop your tank pH.

I've never done anything to my topoff RO/DI water and never had problems. If you know that you need to add a buffer anyway, it's good to dissolve it in your topoff water.
