ACIII Questions

Looks like Brian and I are in the same boat. No one seems to wants to help out on the Neptune forum.

I can't get mine to update. When I click Update, it hangs and never finishes loading. I'm not getting any error message on the coding, so I don;t knwo what the problem is. I've tried two different computers. I'm going to have to go to an ACIII Pro, it looks like, to get the timers I need... Unless I can't get this to update, then I'll be looking for another system altogether... You spend a grand on something and it should work, or at least someone should be able to help get it working...

Maybe you should try giving them a call, Gary.

I'm not sure how they are on answering phones, but they usually are pretty decent at helping people with problems.

Then again, I've not really been hanging out in the Neptune forum in a while... probably a year... so maybe they're busier now.

Wish I knew the answer! :)

Well, by doing baby steps (load a few timers, then the code associated, then more timers, then the code, then more timers...), I've gotten it to load everything but the last DC8. I'm not running the Neptune cord to this DC8, but have a 4 wire telephone cord of the same length. I don't, however, even have any of the DC's hooked to the controller, so this shouldn't be the problem (how could it know it is the wrong cable if it isn't even plugged into the unit, ya know).

Curt is working with me now, so hopefully we can get the last DC8 going. Something has to be hanging it up for some reason. It took me at least an hour today to clean up after Hurricane Gary from cussing this thing last night... I was trying to get everything ready for a quick switch over to generator power if Gustav had headed this way, so I spent the day pulling wires and plugging them in. When I couldn't get controls as of 10:00 last night, I wasn't a happy camper... Some of that was trying to get it set up to communicate to my desktop... I'm getting somewhere now.

Does the DC8 work if you swap it out with another power strip? If so, it must be something in the connection or the way the jumpers are set, I would think...

I haven't tried swapping it out with the other one yet. Curt said as long as the cord is 4 wire, it should work, so I've got to do some digging...

Gary - I feel your pain... maybe if I just post once a day someone will answer it. They were really helpful before once I got them on the phone, so definitely give that a whirl.

I can't help but thinking that doing a little work on improving their manual would save them a LOT of work on answering people's questions...

It is all finally working... I went through three different phone cords to find one that worked (all 4 wire). I haven't done the updates yet, but I hope that takes care of some of the isues I had getting everything in. If I feed it everythign at once, it choked on me. A little at a time, and no problems, though.

Brian-contact them through the support button on the neptune website, if not by phone (I work better from email). Curt got back with me the same day and got back to me pretty quickly with any question I had.
