Started an Acriflavine treatment today to help rid my Lamarks angel of lymphocystis and a pretreatment for the other new fish in the tank.

Anybody else ever administer this treatment before? How long would you keep the treatment in the tank? The directions say 1 tsp per 10 gal. Treat daily after 25% to 50% water change. Adjust dose to match amount of changed water.

It is a pretty treatment, haha. Turns the water yellowish but the light shining in makes it neon green. Pic doesn't show how neon the green is:

I thought that was mainly used for velvet, Im going to watch this one since I have a Dogface Puffer that has lympho that he just cant shake. Good luck!

Thanks. This treatment was suggested to me on another forum so I figured it couldn't hurt. According to the bottle and their site, Acriflavine-MS is also used to prevent bacterial egg infections and to treat open wounds, as well as various external protozoan and bacterial infections

Hopefully it'll help.

Lymphocystis is a virus, so the product you're using won't do anything. Lympho usually clears up by itself with excellent water and diet. its not deadly or contagious. Acriflavine is an ingredient in a lot of
"general purpose" meds (most of which serve no purpose, IMO & IME) . I always thought it was mostly a fungus cure. I'd really do more research before just dosing fish in QT, you can't believe everything the bottle says. Often, you may need a specific med in a QT and are then faced with the problem of completely removing a med that probably isn't doing anything.

Thanks. It was suggested to me by somebody who seemed to know what was going on which is why I moved forward with it. I already have 20 gal of fresh water mixing since last night to do a water change today and can start carbon back up with the flick of a switch.

This fish has already been through 2 treatments of Prazi before lympho showed up so I was kinda of worried seeing him like that in the DT since he was quarantined first.

Lymph is not prevented by QT. It's a viral infection and viruses are... as you know...everywhere. It's just like the common flu we humans get. With good water quality and diet lymph usually disappears in a couple of weeks. Most of my fish have gotten lymph before and recovered from it, and have never gotten it again.

I agree. I know of no prophylactic or treatment for lymphocystis. Lots of things being sold but they often have no or questionable value.
