acro colors

i have a colony of purple tip valida in my 75gal tank. i made a frag about a month ago and it is still in my tank and doing great but the strange thing is that the frag has turned bright green with no purple! any idea why it would do that. any help would be great!

Its probably getting more/less light and a different amount of flow which is accounting for the differences between the main colony and the frag.

the frag is only an inch or so below the colony and getting pretty much the same flow.could even that much of a difference affect it?

It grows nicely? If not you have to wait till it grows. Growing means optimal condition so you can see real color under your condition then.

yea its growing alot but instead of purple growth tips it has green.

What kind of light do you use?

i wouldnt worry to much... with the new growth from my purple validia is white to green to purple... it started off with green tips then moved on to purple.. on each stem of the validia im getting less then 1 cm of white alot of floures. green and about 1 inch of purple

i'm using 2 175w mh 10k color. i'm not worried about it it was just strange to me. my colony looks almost exactly like that pic but it dosen't have any green.
