Acro crabs

I have AEFW problem and currently experimenting with praziquantel. Some of my colonies have acro crab in them and it seems those are the ones unaffected by AEFW. Is this just coincidence?

Well, what is more important to you? The corals you can't replace or the crabs you can easily replace?

Going to have to make a sacrifice.

Goodluck with your choice!

I just dealt with AEFW as well. A number of my colonies had acro crabs but still got infested with AEFW. They may help but when the tank becomes infested, I do not think they can prevent AEFW from spreading to the colony.

Just as FYI, from my research there is only one proven method to eradicating AEFW from your tank. Take all acros out (including scraping off all encrusted parts on rocks) and starve the AEFW for a period of 6 to 7 weeks. After 7 weeks of staring at a bare tank, I'm just starting to put my acros back in the tank.

Best of luck,

I have tried dipping one infested millipora in a praziquantel solution and it is very effective without noticeable effect on the acro. I am goingt o do the whole tank treatment, just gathering some information and pondering on the safe way to do it. I am aware of the eggs hatching, so thei has to be redone later on. Don't know how long is the incubation period, it may help in timing the redosing.
