I've read many crabs are benifial to acros but I've noticed a few dead spots so I removed him but I would like an ID on him. This is a new coral I got today and dipped in coral rx pro for about 10-15 mins. Apparently this stuff doesn't kill inverts???

Yes it's an acro eating crab. If you have a sump, you could let him live there. Otherwise, he's going to do damage to your acros.

Looks like whats commonly reffered to as a gorrilla crab. It is in the family Xanthidae and known to have a toxin in its body (said to be similar to that of a puffer fish) so dont feed it to your fish. They are known to be pesky critters and generally wreak havoc in a tank.

Furry + blue eyes = bad news. I would get him out of your tank ASAP. If he's out, don't put him back in.

Thanks guys, thought something was wrong ... He's out of the tank btw can't believe he lived through the coral rx though , weird
