Acro growth turning pale

Can anyone tell me what would make this Pinky the Bear go from solid pink to just pink corallites? It's almost like the skin stretched as it grew out.

I've had that coral for years and that's when it's typically happy.

Ok, that was my first thought. I just thought that maybe it would begin to turn more pink closer to the base but the base has really started to grow and its doing the same as the branches.

It'll pink out as it matures and lays down a base.
