With such small pieces, it's really hard to tell. You'll need to let it grow out and establish a growth pattern. Then it'll be easier for a possible ID. Or if you're not patient enough for that, send them to me, I'll let them grow out in my tank and then see what we all can come up with...lol. Beautiful color!! Hope it holds that color!!

+1
It's definately a deepwater and so Is Echinata.
As for it being an ORA Hawkins, You'll probably have to take the
sellers word for it, or not.
Keep in mind that colors are going to be very different depending on several factors.

Pretty coral :)

thanks guys, i'm not big into corals and didn't know, somehow i missed the above link when i went to ora's web site. the seller is very well respected and i have no reason not to take his word on it. thanks again for the quick response.

It vary well could be ora hawkins blue echinata.... But in all reality ora mislabeled that coral as echinata which it is not.

Marc, you didn't miss the above link. It's actually not affiliated with ORA at all. It's a hobbyist who started a website to show how ORA corals might look under various lighting.

i had suspected ora hawkins blue wasn't A. echinata.
at any rate it might not matter much now that the fresh cut branches bleached
due to cutting, system change and glue damage. i'm not all that optimistic due to their small size but hopefully the branch to the right will recover. i should have went with my first instinct of drilling a small shallow hole in rock to hold them upright for several days so that they could adjust without the added stress of glue killing living tissues.

too much stress on the delicate tiny little ora lawn gnomes, feeling like the april fools joke was on me this time -

i think the stress was already in progress from the start, visible in the first picture (shot minutes after i picked them up), as a lighter color resembling the splintering bark of a pruned tree branch.
it a good thing the Montipora setosa from that buy is doing alright. the seller had glued the two M. setosa pieces (pictured to the left of the ora lawn gnomes), to the frag disc days prior to delivering them to me.

What a shame that they did not make it.

:(

Marc you can call ORA directly and ask any questions you want. I have been their biggest fan for years and alway get ask about new releases.

As I stated to you the other day sps can look all different ways depending water quality and lights.

I have brand new bulbs and now run zeo. Those were new growth branches and were lighter then the other parts of the colony.

I also feel that the coral is not named properly from ORA and is a Turaki.

But think about this Marc..... Why would they cal it Hawkins blue? Your looking at a pic thats online advertising a fairly new delivered coral that stressed in shipping. When blue gets stresssed it will darken up. And if nutriants are high that will happen And if you add Iron that will make blues green.
I also keep the colony under direct lights. Thats just how my reef is set up.
But if you still were not sure that I gave you the Hawkins you can call Mike at TFZ where I purchased it from. The colony behind the PL. Not a great pic sorry
