Acro receding, possible pest?

Hello,

A friend of mine has this acropora that is slowly receding on the underside, and we could use a little help finding the cause/solution. It has been happy and growing for about a year, this started about two months ago and continues to slowly progress. the coral still grows quickly and looks very healthy from the topside. It has plenty of flow on all sides, so I don't think that's the problem. We assumed it was some sort of pest, but looked at it closely with a magnifying glass and could not spot anything.

Alk - 9dkh (dosed daily, very stable)
cal - 460
mag - ???
nitrates - 5
po4 - 0 with api test

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

too low or to high?

+1 the area that's receding, is getting the same amount of flow as the rest of the coral, it's about 12" away from a modded maxi-jet.

We didn't see any eggs or bite marks, but certainly could've missed them.

it doesnt look like aefw damage.

usually when I have seen similar type slow recession it has been on areas of a coral that doesnt get light due to being on the underside of the oral, and its in a area that may not get as much flow as the rest

but it could surely be something else, as well such as any alk spikes or who knows. we dont always get to know the why. If everything is in line and the recession is continuing, it surely wouldnt hurt to take a thin layer of super glue and coat the dead spot, covering up into the healthy tissue a little and see if you can get it to stop.

so "patch" it so it doesnt continue to peel? i get it..ill wait one more day to see if it continues to recede and if it its get worse then ill go that route.
