My tank (180 gallons) is about 1 1/2 years old and I introduced my Ritteri Anemone over a year ago.
It has been hosting 3 clowns for most of the time and it was doing fine up to about 3 weeks ago.
It now has a really swollen mouth - not open or gapping (its closed) but definitely swollen (about 1 to 1 1/2 inches off its disk)
I've done a lot of research on it already and the research says that the issue could be pour water quality, its hungry (I feed it raw shrimp once a week), not enough light, infection etc. etc.
I feel my tank is very stable - in fact about a week ago my clownfish had laid their first set of eggs - I also had a sea cucumber that reproduced asexual. So I don't feel that animals would be reproducing if the tank wasn't stable. I'm running kissel lights with a COB light directly above it. It has been sitting at the top of my rock structure (been there from the beginning) where my powerheads (have them on the back of the glass) and return lines come together. So its getting plenty of flow.
I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a Ritteri with a swollen mouth and have it survive and/or what their experience has been.
So far it seems to be doing OK - still very sticky and eats but its not as robust as it has been in the past.
Wasn't sure if the swollen mouth could be just a phase its going through(even though the web says that a swollen mouth means it has an issue) or if it could be something else - like getting ready to split etc. etc.
In an case, any experience anyone can give me that has had a swollen mouth on a Ritteri would be appreciated.
Thank you.
