Little back ground and info. Ive been keeping sps for almost a decade now but not sure what to do here.

After moving i broke down my 100g and set up a little 20g to keep my RBTA and clowns until i decide if im going to re setup the 100 or go larger (aka if the wife will give permission :spin3:)

Tanks been set up 11 months, ~25 lbs of live rock from old tank.
Par 38 LED Blue/white Bulb
RBTA and 2 clowns
Softball size ball of Chaeto
CPR HoB Skimmer - Surprisingly great skimmer
Recently added TLF reactor with carbon and GFO since im having HA issues but seem to be getting better.
Recently started adding Kalk to Top off water - low dosage though 2 tbsp in 5g. Probably not necessary.

Found my alk and CA test kits and surprisingly the parameters for those 2 are amazing 450 CA and 9.6 DKH. Need to find other test kits for Po4 and nitrates.

So i added a frag a friend of mine gave me which was a dark green with purple polyps and over the course of around a month it gets lighter and lighter every day. He had it under MH Radiums.

Now im not freaking out because its getting great growth for only being in the tank a month. But im a little worried its bleaching out slowly.

Wanted to get some thoughts others may have or experiences with possibly the same thing.

I suspect nutrients also. If you are stripping the water to starve off the algae you are starving your corals also. I am going through a similar issue in dealing with my algae problem.

Yea it is a bare bottom tank too so you guys are probably right. My thinking was there's still hair algae so remove as much as nutrients as possible, feed as little as possible.

I'll try taking off the GFO or reducing the amount. I used 2/3 of a cup or whatever the BRS calculator said.

You can just feed a bit more, and strip them with the GFO. Or get a Yellow tang which will take care of the GHA for ya.
