one of my acros turned white overnight as well. All the other acros are doing great.

I think mine could have been do to strong flow. It was a small acro (2") and had thin branches and was in a high flow area.

Is there a specific salt that causes this? What did your friend determine the problem was?

it's oceanic salt,he's doing a 20% water change with instance ocean for 5 straight days to stop the bleaching from the tip.i also have friends use oceanic without any problem.like i said earlier all paremeter all perfect.it's seem to affect sps only.seem like oceanic is not consistence with their salt.when it's happen to me,i do water change also.but i didn't switch salt since i use oceanic from the start for over a years. i never touch them oceanic again.it's too costly.now i try reef crystal with my new set up.so far so good.gl

I was thinking the same thing.
did this happen over night or in a few days or weeks?

I use a 505/50 blend of IO and Oceanic and I have had tips die on a few acros. I'm going to follow up with a bunch of IO only water changes to see if the issue stops. Thanks for the info.

I had the same problem lately with an Acro. It looked like RTN but started at the tips, not the base. Mine only lasted a few hours like this, it started late one night, and the coral was gone by mid day the next day. No other SPS in the tank was affected. For now I'm assuming it was too close to my lights...it had been in my tank for about 3 weeks, and I didnt let it acclimate to my lights.

I recently bought two aquacultured tenus corals from a local retailer. With in 3 days of them being in my tanks the tips started to receed on both corals. This was a first for me. I have had base recession, but never tip.

I can't be 100% sure, but I think when those corals were introduced in my tank my Alk was way out of line, something in the 15dkh area. So, high dkh could be the possible cause. Other than that I've got no idea.
