Acro under the center brace

I have a spot for an acro at the top of my tank, but mostly under neath the center brace on an AGA 75 gal. Does anyone know of a suitable acro species for this spot? Will it get enough light from the sides? It's under 250 W 14Ks.
I've thought about cutting out the center brace and replacing it with acrylic, but it seems kinda risky...
Thanks.

is the brace casting a big shadow ? don't know about sps...but if theres a big shadow there...something non photosenthitic would be cool...like a gorg or sun coral

Well there is enough light for at least some sps--my monti cap grows like crazy just underneath this spot--I just had my heart set on an acro colony here.

I'd prolly sudjest against an acro....but there are deep water acros, someone else would prolly be better at this topic than me...

it will likely grow out to the sides away from the center brace.....you might be successful with an acro there but you will likely notice an area on it that doesnt look that great due to the shadow..

you can always try it and if it seems ill affected then just move it

My center brace is acrylic and doesn't cast a shadow. I keep several acros there. I just make sure I clean it every week. I don't think I lose much more light there than I do under the eggcrate.

why.. there are quite a few deepwater species/ Montiporas to fill up your "shady" spot..
There is enough penetration through the centerbrace of my 180 using T5's, ( its 18inches across) to grow two tortusas, a clathrata, and two tenuis' all of which are more than a foot deep under the brace... I would not worry about how much light its killing... there is plenty getting through..

I have acros under my center brace, I have a 250W 14k MH directly above it and I am not saying that this will work for everyone but it is possible and I have had success

sorry kind of a bad pic but I took it to show you the corals that are under my centerbrace....

It would be a nice spot for a tabling acro...anyone know of the least light demanding table? It's in an area of high flow so that shouldn't be a problem...
Thanks.
