Acropora Fish ID Help

I bought a medium size piece of acropora species from the my local store. The first thing I noticed were two acropora crabs, which I though was very nifty. The other night I noted something long and then noted it had eyes. Then I realized it was a fish about 1/2 cm long that darts around in the crevices of the coral head. I'm guessing it is an "acropora fish or goby" perhaps of the Pleurosicya genus. Any ideas?

You did well to get a pic. I would say is a trimma goby of some type (possibly a juvi sheppardi). However, I wouldn't rule out a Pleurosicya neither. Nice hitchiker!

Thanks. I found if I sat still with the 60 mm Nikkor macro lens against the glass the fish would flit around and eventually stop in front of the lens. I had to use an SB800 external flash to get around the barrel of the lens. Manual focus was required as the crevice was small enough that the camera wanted to focus on the coral in autofocus.

Good find! This is my little hitchiker!

He also came in on an acro. He wasn't even 1/2" long! I've had him well over a year now and he's slowly creeping up on 3/4". Good luck! I hope nobody in your tank thinks he'll make a tasty snack!

Mine managed to avoid a dottyback and survived a tank move. Tenacious little thing. He'll eat mysis bigger than himself!

I never really realized until I started seeing pictures of Acropora spp. in the wild, but they almost always have tiny gobies hiding in them.

P.S. What server/faction, Lockhartia? :)

Undead priest, Shattered Hand.
Undead mage, Shattered Hand.

Troll mage, Shattered Hand.
Human rogue, Firetree.

I gave up one serious addiction for an even more serious one. >_<

Tell me about it. I have to keep myself from turning on the computer the minute I get home!

Shattered Hand huh, you're in the Ruin battlegroup with me!

Maybe I'll see you in WSG someday! My druid's name is Lockhartia.

Got a tauren hunter on Bloodhoof as well named Dega!
