i just got 2 acros over the weekend, i dont know much about acros

my question is how much polyp extension should i look for to indicate that the coral is happy with the amount of current and light its getting ?

Every coral has different extension. Pretty much an impossible question to answer. If you knew exactly what species of Acro someone may be able to provide pictures of what theirs look like to give you a ball park idea.

There are many different types of acros that like different conditions, but they all they tend to take a few days to really settle in, so just make sure they are in

1. The brightest spot in the tank
2. good flow

#1 is more important. If the tissue doesn't start peeling off, assume they are fine. If algae starts growing on them put them in better current.

Look at them at different times of the day. Some of mine extend polyps more at night or later in the day after the MH are off.

My A. Verweyi shows very little polyp extension....

.... yet it GROWS, colorful and healthy!

I have (should I say HAD) a stag that has insane PE.. which at the same time had STN (slow tissue necrosis) on its base, and eventually died.

Bottom line: Polyp extension alone is not a reliable gauge of SPS health... (from what I've learned myself)
