How well do Acropora Samoensis hold their color?? I am considering buying a blue one, but not sure if its worth it if they typically fade out over time.
Wild captured corals have a dismal survival rate in captivity, across almost all species. Mainting coloration on wild corals, is even worse. If it's captive raised, I'd say your odd's are pretty good.
Wild Samoensis are one of the more hardy species. They require strong light and strong water flow. If you provide both and have low nutrient water then you should not have a problem keeping one. Blue ones look best under 20k. I have purchased about 40 wild colonies and survival rate is excellent. I did loose a few due to acro flat worms before I new what they were.
A healthy Samoensis should have 24/7 polyp extension. The one you posted has no polyp extension. This could be because it was moved to get a pic or is not happy. If possible see if they can provide a pic with full polyp extension. This would verify that its a healthy specimen.

Thanks Green Thumb!! I'm expecting another large colony Friday from RM. At times I contemplate whether to have a Samonesis/Humilis dominated reef. These things get huge, though.
