i was wondering if anybody out there is trying to do a acro only tank, i am in the process of starting a acro only tank and i am just wondering if there are any helpful hints to help them thrive

water quality, water quality, water quality. good flow and light too.

Make sure you have good test kits, and have a plan now to keep ca and aklainity in check

Hey I'm just learing also, and we all have out own opinions
and ways.
What I thought of when you ask to make acro thrive it made methink of a comment that was made to me That people desire to have a tank as the ones seen in mags and in the tank of the month, Big wounderful colonys.
I was told stability, stability, stability. keep the paramiters where they need to be, if they move up and down it has an effect on coral groth.
I do not have a calcium reactor, I am going to as soon as I can.
I dose every 2 days to maintain alk. and ya sometimes I miss.

when I check it's a little low, I'm shure it has an effect.
I'm am after a tank like that, but it requires stable conditions.
I'm not there yet.
Plan ahead, too many fish and not enufgh bacteria or plants that converts nitrates will cause elevated nitrates and retarded coral groth.
this may not present it's self untill months down the road.
Read, and really think what your dosing and why.

when I first started to add acro's all my paramiters were allwise right on . then one day I checked the alk and it was way below 2 mg/l I freaked out, nothing died and over 4 days I got it back up.
It's a hobby, how much love and labor you put into it will show

if you have funds, get a controller like the aquacontroller, being able to see your tank, control it, and see when spikes are [and set alarms] can be very wonderful for building stability and stopping bad crashes
