Is it hard or possible to cut acrylic? I may buy a tank from a friend of mine but it's an odd shape and overflows would not be an easy task, it's non RR and I want to know if it's safe for me to cut out, or drill a section for an overflow. Please let me know thanks.

You can cut/drill acrylic just like you do wood. You even use the same tools. A good plywood blade in the saw works best for cutting acrylic. If you cut too slow though, it tends to melt the acrylic some.

You can sand/file the cut edges to give a nice smooth edge. You can even poilish them for a perfect clear edge. Glueing will require a special glue. Weld-on makes several glues for acrylic.
