anyone sell acrylic tube by the foot? I know usplastic has good prices but I don't need 6' help please

home depot, lowes all have various sizes of tubing that can be used for the aquarium, both by the foot and 10ft rolls. very inexpensive. i keep at least one roll of about 10 different sizes from 1/8" to 1" great for reducing a larger diameter by using one size smaller...

Yeah Mcmastercarr is your best bet, they don't sell it by the foot so much, but they have a lot of varities of sizes and prices.

mcmastercarr is probably one of the cheapest places you will find, most of them require an order of 6' or more which gets expensive and then the hammer you on insurance. Mcmastercarr has it is 12" 24" 36" for most sizes, they have it in Cast (which is a lot better for DIY projects) and their shipping is cheap.

mcmastercarr is a great place to buy from I have ordered other stuff from them before. but for acrylic for a 5" dia 1' long is 17.00 i don't thank that is cheap at all.

Not sure where you found it on mcmastercarr for $17.00 that is REALLY REALLY cheap though. You will not find it anywhere else that I have ever seen for that little.

I found 5" diameter cast tubing there 12" long with 1/4" wall for $26. Thats cheap, I looked around every where when I was building my skimmer and could never find anyone else that had the prices they do and also didn't require me to buy 6'.

I buy my tube in large quantities wholesale, but in a pinch I get small tubes from McMaster too. Not always the best price, but they ship fast. Sometimes they are slow to raise prices too, so if tube prices shoot up McMaster is suddenly the best deal in the US.

They don't know how to pack though, if I order 60 feet of 6" tube, more than half of them will have ends that are cracked from poor handling.

They will exchange, but if I did that I'd spend all my time shipping tube back and forth.

For short sections, they should be able to pack it better (I would hope).

Im tellin ya, in the past, the best prices I have found are from guys like Zephrant/Barr. When I bought 6" OD cast, firstclassaquatics was able to get it for 1/2 what mcmaster and others were quoting. They have wholesale accounts with large distributors that gives them 40-50% off retail usually, if not more... and considering the use, they usually pass on the savings to us.

I cringe when I see prices for 12" OD cast 1/4" thick online... thank goodness for the wholesale accounts!

h20cooled you are right about the cast acrylic at mc master it is cheap. I was talking about extruded acrylic compared to cast.
