Acrylic Vs. Glass

I'll have them email me some. I just took delivery of a 375 last week. 96 x 30 x 30. Sits against a wall, viewed through the wall on the back side. Large sidways corner overflows. The view through the back wall is the dimension from overflow to overflow, around 84". On the tank side there are 2 short return walls on either side of the tank that cover the overflows, they are about 14" They will have custom book shelves installed in them. This will allow viewing of the full 96" front and 16" of side view. With 30" of land front to back it leaves great possibilites for rock scaping.

I'll upload to photo bucket very soon. I'm probably going to place a thread on the large tank forum also. i have quite a few systems in the 250-500 gallon range that I take care of, or are in the installation process.

Cjgalante,
Glass. I always try to put my clients into glass. If they are going to make a large investment in a custom system I think in the long run glass is the way to go. I service quite a few Acrylic systems and I'm always polishing out scratches that either I put in it or the client did it. Yes it's true if you scratch glass that's it. But I have to tell you that you have to be a real animal with absolutely no respect for your system to scratch glass. When you get into large systems the price of glass is usually less than acrylic even at the price for Starfire low Iron glass. There are plenty of tank makers that are building glass tanks with wild curves just like the acrylic makers. One thing you won't get away from is weight. Glass is heavy. On big systems I use my manufacturers steel stand. I have multiple cabinet makers I pull in to finish out the front and sides as well as building a custom hood to meet my specs and the clients taste in finish.

I have had my glass tank for over two years now and have not scratched it yet and I clean the glass everyday with a mag float and get sand in it all the time. I just like my glass clean. I would get glass, you do have to be a animal to scratch glass.
