acrylic vs saphire

would like the opinion of someone who has owned both on how clear the display is. i love how clear my tank is but the scratches upset me. im going to upgrade to a bigger tank and i cant decide on glass or acrylic, i purchased my tank used and was soo gung hoe on putting it up i should have polished the scratches out. live and learn again. thanks for any replies.

Are you referring to starphire glass? I'd go with starphire or low-iron glass any day of the week over acrylic, but that is just an opinion.

I haven't seen them side by side, but they both seem equally clear. Acrylic is stronger (useful in earthquake country), but it scratches.

acrylic vs saphire, If I upgrade again I am going with acrylic: Glass is heavy as h*ll. After lifting my 220 with one other person I thought I wouldn't be able to have kids and my back didn't like it either. But thats me, if weight doesn't matter go glass, you won't have to worry about scratches as much.

I have acrylic. While it does scratch, the scratches can be removed, which as far as I know cannot be done with glass. Weight is a consideration as well. And, of course, you can bend acrylic which may or may not be of value.
