Acurate temperature probe?

Is there such a thing or do I need to go back to the old bobbing thermometer?

I find that the ones with batteries that are digital read outs work well.

I had 2 digital ones that read totally different...the bobbing one seems like the only accurate one imo.

Order one from Fisher Scientific. You can get a NIST certified/traceable thermometer with a remote probe encased in epoxy for about $30-40.

While it might be a few dollars more than a junker off the LFS shelf, you will be able to trust the temperature reading.

I use a coralife digital thermometer that cost $7 at the LFS. It reads within 1 degree of two glass thermometers that I have tested it against. Keep in mind, you don't need much accuracy with a tank thermometer, just consistency.
