Talk to me about Hydros

Received a Hydros Control 4, Control 2, Wave Engine, Fish Feeder, (2) Octopus Powerheads and an IceCap Gyre. Guess I’m going Hydros with the upgrade😉
Gee, you seem excited.
I have no interest in the wave engine myself. The concept seems silly to me. The desire by inexperienced people to be able to change things from far away ignores the fact that it is probably a bad idea to do so.
My lights and wave makers use their original controllers. I did use Hydros as a timer to run the on/off of MH/T5 but that need has ended.
I have never used any of the many types of fish feeders that have come around over the years either.
But you are not me.

I know nothing about the WaveEngine at this point and have no clue how it works. I got the components from a friend getting out of the hobby as a package deal. So, we’ll see what I end up doing.

It is more the ability to use the same app for most of my equipment than anything. I can control my lights if I want to do that since they are controlled by 0-10v outputs on my X4 and wave engine. I also control my 2 MP10's using the wave engine instead of the ReefLink. I also control my Sicce SDC 3.0 from the Hydros along will all dosing and RODI functions.

Any idea what this is? Purple cable plugged into command bus on X2.

Definitely going to follow your experience with this griss, we have a few hydros wave engines running pumps at the farm that I have been pretty happy with but haven't used their full controllers on any of the systems yet, currently all are on Neptune, but I can't say I have been impressed with the build quality of their modules and equipment lately. The hydros hardware looks and feels to be much more durable and well built, I definitely want to demo one out soon.

It is probably a DIY one that someone made. I have had my Hydros for over 4 years and have never seen one like that.
It's actually a prototype/very early terminator. The person I got these from was a beta tester for Hydros.

So, one thing I like about the Apex in the Lunar Module. I don't believe Hydros has anything like that.

Those of you using Hydros, do you have moonlighting over your tank? If so, what are you using? If not, any particular reason?

I've had some type of moonlight over my tank since back in the early 90s when I had a Light-Wave controller. The Light-Wave had (4) lighting outlets, (4) powerhead outlets and a moon outlet that brightened/dimmed a blue incandescent bulb following the lunar cycle.

I still have the moon lights from my Digital Aquatics controller. That is the only thing it does now though.

So, in the stuff I got, I received a rope leak detector. But, it doesn’t have the cable on the left. Anyone know what the cable is called so I can order one?

Premium Aquatics is on here. Ask them. I suspect it is a sensor extension cable. I dont use them myself.
Coralvue HYDROS 3.5mm Sensor Adapter Cable | Premium Aquatics
HYDROS Rope Leak Sensor Cable ONLY. Part of set
Doesnt say set of what? How long it is. What port it plugs into. All those little important things.

Isn't it fun to buy what is quite often a large expensive thing aquarium thing and at most you get an exploded diagram to put it together and use it.
Or nothing at all.

and now I understand
a sense port is a 4 prong connector on a controller
SeinseWireEndHorizontal-768x270.png

but rope leak detectors use a banana style plug and 50 can be plugged end to end
RopeLeakSensor-476x460.jpg

So the cable adapts between the sensor and controller style plugs.

I am quite often wrong these days so I would still ask. They are really great to deal with.

Carlos (long time friend) who works for Coralvue said you're link above in the correct cable @wvned
I have spoken with him when I had a problem with a controller. As I said they are great to deal with. That was a while ago because I havent had any problems in a long time.

I have had dealings with both. I see now I switched that up. Both are great.
